War Dogs features a wide array of games and game support material. From old stand-bys such as Dungeons and Dragons or Magic: the Gathering to new and exciting games such as VS and Warmachine, chances are that you will find we've got what you're looking for.
Our game selection is extensive, so this by no means a complete listing of the games we carry. Further, if there is a game you want that we don't have in stock, we can quickly fill most requests in 1-4 business days.
Role-playing Games
War Dogs carries one of the largest selections of RPGs in the region, including the largest selection of used RPGs (at discount pricing) of any game store in Jacksonville. On any given week, War Dogs is host to half a dozen or more RPG game sessions; here are some of the RPGs we actively keep in stock.
| Dungeons & Dragons (Wizards of the Coast) The most popular RPG, D&D is 31 years old and still going strong. We carry every D&D title from Wizards of the Coast, in addition to an extensive selection of games that use the same system, but are from different publishers. | |
| GURPS (Steve Jackson Games) GURPS is the orginal "universal" system, designed to let you play in any setting, any genre, and time period. The GURPS line includes supplements covering virtually every possible kind of game style or theme, and is a great game for those looking to add variety to their games, without having to keep switching systems to do so. | |
| Star Wars (Wizards of the Coast) One of several games that use a variant of the d20 system found in Dungeons and Dragons, Star Wars gives you a chance to adventure in the same worlds and stories as Luke, Obi-Wan, and Han Solo. Face off against the Imperial Fleet or trade swings with a Sith Lord as you create your own part of the tales of the Star Wars Universe. | |
| Rifts (and other Palladium games) Enter a world were science and magic have combined to destroy the civilization that was, and take part in forging the world that is to come. In the Rifts setting, players encounter foes with access to arcane spells, power armor suits, swords, guns, and creatures of fantasy and science fiction. The combination of so many different elements, along with extensive background information, makes for a unique game experience. | |
| Champions (Hero Games) It's capes and spandex, as you take on the role of comic book style superheroes, battling to save the world from secret criminal organizations, alien invasions, powerful super villains, while trying to maintain your secret identity from your friends and co-workers. One of the greatest simulations of comic book style combat, Champions is still the leader in the field after 23 years publication. | |
| Warhammer Fantasy (Sabretooth Games) Based on the setting of the Warhammer Fantasy miniatures game from Games Workshop, WHF RPG is a gritty, hard nosed treatment of the traditional sword and spells genre. More dangerous than flamboyant, more determined than curious, the heroes of Warhammer are forged in battle and face the forces of Chaos with bravery more than magic. | |
| World of Darkness (Vampire, Werewolf, Mage; from White Wolf Publications) The newest versions of the World of Darkness games are more open to the casual gamer, and the new mechanics are more streamlined across the different settings, allowing more balanced play when characters from one setting encounter those from another. | |
| Other games: Babylon 5, Conan the RPG, X Crawl, Star Trek, Spycraft, Legend of the Five Rings, Savage Worlds, the D6 System, Mutants and Masterminds, Hackmaster, Earthdawn, Exalted, World of Warcraft RPG. |
Collectible Card Games
War Dogs plays host to several different CCGs, with both casual and sanctioned tournament play available throughout the week.
| Magic: the Gathering (Wizards of the Coast) The longest running and most popular CCG on the market, Magic dominates the field. War Dogs hosts a DCI sanctioned tournament for Magic each Friday night at 7pm, and we carry the largest selection of single cards for sale in town, with over 25,000 individual cards from all the Magic sets. | |
| Legend of the Five Rings (AEG) The mythical Oriental land of Rokugan comes alive in this CCG, as players strive to defeat their opponents on the field of battle, win the favor of the Emperor by increasing their family's honor, or achieve spiritual Enlightenment by coming to understand the secrets of the universe. At least one, usually two sanctioned events are held for L5R each month at War Dogs. Sold in starter decks, booster packs, and single cards. | |
| Yu Gi Oh (Upper Deck) The hottest CCG on the market aimed at the younger players, this game is based off the smash cartoon hit (or maybe it's the other way around) and is sold in starter decks, booster packs, and single cards. | |
| VS System (Upper Deck) The greatest heroes and villains from Marvel and DC comics battle in this fast playing, intense CCG. All your favorites are here from Superman and Batman, to Spiderman and Captain America. Sold in starter decks, booster packs, and single cards. | |
| Other CCGs: Pirates of the Spanish Main, Anachronism, Hecatomb, Warlord, Spycraft, Code Name: Kids Next Door |
Miniatures Games
| Warhammer Fantasy and Warhammer 40k (Games Workshop) The dominant miniatures company, GW boasts two popular and well supported lines. The figures come unpainted, but there are extensive painting tips available from the company's on line site and its monthly magazine. | |
| White Dwarf. Warmachine (Privateer Press) Mages and warriors clash with monsters and mechanized robots in this wonderful blend of fantasy and steam power. | |
| Reaper Miniatures - The leader in lead molded fantasy figures, the Dark Heaven and Warlord lines from Reaper are fully stocked at War Dogs - representing over 1000 individual models at any one time. Reaper produces its own games for these figures, and they also serve as great models for your Dungeons and Dragons game! | |
| D&D Miniatures (Wizards of the Coast) These figures are plastic and come painted, in randomized starter and booster boxes. With high quality and a low price point, the game is taking off in popularity, and the statistic cards that come with each figure include stats for the D&D role-playing game on the reverse, making the figures even more useful. War Dogs also carries a good selection of single figures to help round out your collection. | |
| Star Wars Miniatures (Wizards of the Coast) Very similar to the D&D Minis game, with similar treatment, packaging, and dual use (with the Star Wars RPG). War Dogs also carries singles for this game as well. | |
| Starship Troopers (Mongoose Publishing) One of the newest minis games on the market, Starship Troopers features troops and aliens from Henlien's universe, including the animated series and the recent movie. Answer the call of the Mobile Infantry! | |
| Other minis games: Mechwarrior, Battletech, Lord of the Rings, Heroclix |
Board Games
| Settlers of Catan (Mayfair games) Players compete to build roads, settlements, and cities to earn points towards victory. Non violent, simple to learn, and very interactive, Settlers and its expansion sets represent a very popular line that shows off some of the best in the board game market. | |
| Axis and Allies (Avalon Hill) Take command of one of the great powers of WW2 and try to shape and influence the outcome with wise use of your military power and industrial capability. The first in a series of board games, the sequels focused on the European and Pacific theatres, and on the D-Day invasion. | |
| Munchkin games (Steve Jackson Games) Designed from the word go to ridicule and tease the seriousness of the committed gamer, the Munchkin line actually encourages players to focus on wealth and power, and forget all that silly "characterization" and "motivation"; it's adventure at its finest - kill the monster, take his stuff. | |
| Ticket to Ride (Days of Wonder) the smash hit of the year features players trying to compete to be the first ton finish their rail road routes across North America by matching colored cards they have drawn with the colors and numbers of the segments of the rail lines between cities. | |
| Zombies!!! (Twilight Creations) Remember that zombie movie that was on late a few nights ago? It was bad, to be sure; the plot was thin, the acting was bad, and the special effects weren't all that special. But you watched anyway. Why? Because it's zombies chasing people all over town! And now in this game, you can live that movie again and again. Players alternate moving their humans to safety and chasing down their rivals with zombies. The game has 4 expansions that open up limitless opportunities for variety. | |
| Other board/card games: Fluxx, Lunch Money, Pirate's Cove, Shadows over Camelot, Risk 2210, Carcasonne |
